Vehicle Description -Deep Carriage Green with Saddle Tan Connolly leather, Saddle Tan Carpeting and Tan Everflex convertible top, Restored, 5-speed ZF manual gearbox, Matching numbers, 1 of only 7 Vantage specification DB5 Convertibles produced by Aston.
The high-performance, rare Vantage-specification DB5 did not make its first appearance until September 1964.
The Aston Martin sales brochure for the DB5 Vantage quoted power output at 325 bhp at 5,750 rpm, some 40 bhp more than the standard engine, a vast increase.
The Vantage upgrades further included flow-tuned intake manifolds proving a ram effect, the cylinder head featured extra-large ports, valve timing was modified, and ignition timing was advanced for extra power and a flatter torque curve.
A vacuum reservoir was also added to the power-assisted brake system.
As expected, the DB5's performance was sharpened considerably in Vantage tune, particularly with zero-to-60 times dropping to just 6.
5 seconds.
The example featured here is 1 of only 7 DB5 Vantage Convertibles originally produced by the factory.
Completed on April 1, 1965, this matching numbers, factory Vantage convertible is even more rare having been 1 of only 2 RHD examples to leave the factory for the home market.
This DB5C enjoyed AMOC collector ownership while in the UK and was well-known in Aston circles.
In the mid 1990's the DB5C was converted to LHD and exported to its new home here in the United States with a well-known collector in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Circa 2012 and under new ownership by another AMOC member, this DB5C received a comprehensive restoration by a well-known and respected Aston Martin specialist.
Completed to concours standards, it then toured the Eastern United States concours circuit with class wins at almost nearly event entered.
Just recently, it was decided to strip this DB5C to metal and return it to its original exterior color of Aston Martin Deep Carriage Green as original delivered when new.
Thus, today, this DB5C in rare Vantage specification is absolutely exceptional in every respect.
It has been serviced regardless of use to make sure it has remained in superb concours condition throughout.
Complete with original Aston Martin factory build sheet as well as British Motor Heritage Trust Certificate substantiating original color, matching numbers as well as Vantage specification, this DB5C is also offered with its owners manual, factory tool roll, jack and knock-off hammer.
It is superb in absolutely ever respect and ready for the concours circuit as well as road and tour use.
